The Malaysian Plover
The bird featured in the Wild Bird Club Malaysia (WBCM) logo is the Malaysian Plover, a small shorebird found along sandy beaches and coastal flats across Southeast Asia. Unlike many shorebirds that migrate long distances, the Malaysian Plover is a resident species that breeds locally, making it closely tied to the health of our region’s coastal ecosystems.
In the logo, the plover is depicted with one leg stepping forward, symbolizing the club’s commitment to progressive action in promoting bird appreciation, conservation awareness, and responsible birdwatching practices.
Just as the bird moves forward along the shoreline, WBCM strives to move forward in its efforts to protect birds and their habitats for future generations.
The Malaysian Plover reflects the values of WBCM, appreciation of wildlife, awareness of conservation challenges, and the responsibility to protect birds and their habitats for future generations.
