Location Overview

Bukit Rengit is a well-known lowland forest birding location near Lanchang in the state of Pahang. Birding is conducted mainly along Jalan Bukit Rengit, a quiet road running through forest and secondary growth near the boundary of Tengku Hassanal Wildlife Reserve. Other places of interest includes the Malayan Tiger Conservation Centre, the Deerland Park and the Kuala Gandah Elephant Santuary. Bukit Rengit is easily accessible from the East Coast Expressway via the Lanchang Toll Plaza. The birding road is only a short drive from the highway exit. Travel time from Kuala Lumpur is typically around 1.5–2 hours, making it a popular site for day trips.

We parked our cars along the road in front of the Malayan Tiger Conservation Centre and walked along the roadside, stopping for a while on the bridge. There are a few fruiting trees, with many birds coming to have a bite.
